PCB Fabrication Concept and its Process

PCB is now considered as a widely used term in electronics industry like in all sorts of mechanical and electronic products such as automobiles, cellular telephones, personal computers etc. The basic function of it is to provide continuous mechanical support to the machine. Basing on its important functions, printed circuit board manufacturers follow a well formulated step by step process.

Film-protected copper along with the rest of the unprotected areas is exposed to a chemical that eliminates the unprotected copper. Then drilling is done in order to attach plate-through applications. Bare copper tracings are applied with protective material in order to make it protected from environmental damage. A thin solder layer is used for coating pad areas so that the PCB will be ready for wave soldering process. When PCB has been completed, a thorough visual inspection is done to check the quality and the flow of current is ensured.

Basically, PCB fabrication is a key process in the manufacturing of PCBs. But as a concern PCB fabrication supplier you have to ensure that PCB prototype remains made ready before fabrication. The step by step of PCB fabrication is as described below.

Initially PCBs are fabricated with two software's CAD and CAM to produce the PCB prototype. Then PCB material is selected and coated with copper. Then the circuit layout is printed on the board by a photosensitive process and circuit traces are connected. Then to mount the components, holes are drilled at the points where the electrical and electronics parts are placed on the board. Then the hollow rivets are inserted into them or they are coated by an electroplating process. A masking material is then applied to coat the entire PCB with the exception of the pads and the holes. The final step is to screen print the board so labels and the legend appear at their proper locations.
