Opportunities in PCB Manufacturing for Advanced Technologies

There is a good market demand potential for PCB Manufacturing; it indeed finds application in numerous sectors including communication apparatus, automobiles and computers and peripherals.

However, there are numerous suck factors which is responsible for the growth of the PCB market.

• It should be noted that with the increased usage of wireless devices the demand is also gradually rising.

• Using automation technologies more widely in the industries, in which the end users are situated

• Consumer desire for flexible circuits increases

• The continuous advancements in miniaturization of devices.

• Increasing demand for better efficient interconnect applications

Printed Circuit Board or commonly known as PCB is an electronic part that connects electronic components through tracks on its surface rather through wires. To provide mechanical support and precisely locate the electronic components, there are some holes drilled on the board for screwing. Thereafter, they are soldered and a circuit is made between these connections through the use of copper tracks. PCB Assembly: The terms board and the components when joined together are referred as a PCB Assembly. is an acronym for printed circuit board assembly (or PCB assembly).

To make a PCB with tracks for the components first a copper clad board is acquired. This includes the substrate material most commonly the FR4 type the copper foiling is commonly in both main sides. This copper cladding is a layer of copper sheet that is laminated to the board of the circuit. This bonding is normally very good for FR4, but due to the very nature of the PTFE, this is made harder and this makes the processing of the PTFE PCBs harder.

In general the PCBs are employed to interconnect the various parts electrically and mechanically as well as to provide a support structure where the whole system can be designed to fit into. PCB Manufacturing employs very thin copper traces to ensure that current is passed to respective parts within the circuit. These thin copper tracks are deposited and outline a pattern on a substrate base, often a thin layer of phenolic paper impregnated with resin, or fiberglass epoxy layers.

Moreover, it should be stated that several conductive sheets can be applied to a single printed circuit board that can contain up to sixteen such layers glued together. The tiny dots of silver on the metal boards are solder displays that pass through hole parts on the other side.

Only developing a part of the PCB is relatively easier than the process of manufacturing it. While designing and PCB Manufacturing, a wide range of factors need to be considered:

• These components have to be accurately put into correspondence.

• Spacing between copper tracks and generally the position of the components must be chosen in a way that current does not switch.

• These have posed certain conditions like where the track widths have to correspond with the frequency of the passing current.
