A Brief Introduction to the 94V 0 Printed Circuit Board
Thus, 94V-0 PCB means the printed circuit
board (PCB) with using a flame retardant 4 (FR-4) glass epoxy laminate that has
been tested on the UL 94 flammability standard and meeting the V-0 rating. UL
94 standard offers test methods to determine the ignitability, flaming
combustion, and other fire-enduring characteristics of plastics that are
applied in devices and appliances.
The number 94V-0
implies that after the UL 94 vertical burning test, the material has
self-extinguished on the first flame application from the first flame
application and no drips were flaming; for the second flame application, it
burnt for less than 30 seconds.
This high flammability
rating makes 94v0 suitable where there is electrical equipment that operates in
conditions that expose it to high fire risks. Besides flame protectiveness, the
designation of epoxy resin improves thermal characteristics, chemical
stability, and mechanical strength.
94v0 FRP-4 laminates
insulate heat with ability to take flexing and vibration stresses. All these
electrical, mechanical and chemical as well as fire prevention properties make 94V-0 PCB substrates an ideal material
for IID control to space applications systems.
HB: This rating shows
that the expansion rate on the horizontal cylinder specimen is slightly above
sluggish. V-2: V stands for vertical and it means that burn issuing stops
within 30 seconds at the time of testing the specimen vertically. V-1: V-1 is
the same as V-2, but the particles aren’t supposed to become inflamed, even in
the drips. V-0: By V-0 rating, the burning of a specimen in the vertical
position does not spread beyond 10 seconds, and the particles of burning
dropping should not flare up. In the last two classifications, UL tests bar and
plaque specimens. Furthermore, the source of the flame is about five times more
severe of that used in the upper four groupings.
5VB: Burning should
extinguish in not more than 60 seconds on the both specimens when tested on its
vertically. 5VA: With vertical samples, the burning stops within 60 seconds,
and the plaque may not form a hole. There should also be no drips.
The outstanding
characteristics of the 94V-0 PCBs include the following:
The presented Fire Resistance
rates prove that the 94V-0 PCBs save lives of electronics. As has been
demonstrated when facing conditions related to possible combustion, they are a
reliable solution.
The 94V-0 circuit boards meet standard electronic parts to make a right board for mounting of today parts. Since these boards possess specific characteristics for withstanding high temperatures, they are suitable for use in circuit construction.
These boards are also designed with improved structure to allow efficient management of available space. This facility is advantageous to professionals in 94V-0 PCB to create more extensive circuits by layering both conductors and insulating materials.
